As air traffic increases year after year, airports find resources stretched to the limit as they try to maintain on time performance and most importantly, passenger safety.  In the realm of aircraft safety, nothing increases the coefficient of friction and reduces the likelihood of hydroplaning on both asphalt and concrete runways as effectively and inexpensively as grooving.  And nobody grooves as many runways as quickly and efficiently as Cardinal/International Grooving and Grinding of Conshohocken, Pennsylvania.

With over fifty patents in the grooving and related fields, Cardinal is the recognized leader the world over in airport grooving quality and production.  Designed in house, our SAFE-T-GROOVERS® all have 600 horsepower or more and some are capable of cutting 9-3/8 feet in a single pass.  Even our smallest piece of equipment, at eight feet, is two to three times as large and three to four times as powerful as standard industry equipment.  Our equipment is capable of grooving up to 2500 square yards per hour (depending on the type of pavement and aggregate) and we routinely groove 2,000 to 3,000 lineal feet of runway in a single day, in both asphalt and concrete!  In the last four years alone, Cardinal has grooved over 10,000,000 square yards of airport runways, more than any other company in the world.

As airports become more and more congested, airport managers/owners are allowing less and less time for maintenance and repairs, particularly at the larger and busier airfields.  When working under tight time constraints, production rates become critical, and slow grooving can easily add 10% to 20% to the quoted grooving price due to increased supervisory costs, not to mention inconvenience to the airport owner and flying public.  When choosing a grooving contractor, it is therefore important to consider all the facets of the proposal, from the estimated cost per square yard to the estimated time for completion.  Please contact us on your next grooving project and let us show you how we can save you time, money, and aggravation.
